Policy Recommendations
The UPWELL Policy Recommendations translate the project’s research findings and pilot experiences into concrete guidance for education policy and practice. The document recognises teacher well-being as a structural condition for inclusive, high-quality education, particularly in increasingly diverse and complex school contexts. Rather than framing well-being as an individual responsibility, UPWELL positions it as a shared, systemic priority that must be embedded within education policies, school governance and professional development frameworks.
Grounded in extensive qualitative and quantitative research conducted across multiple European countries, the recommendations address national and regional education authorities, teacher education providers, school leaders and local decision-makers. They outline practical, evidence-based actions to strengthen teacher support, promote inclusive teaching practices, and ensure that multicultural classrooms are environments where both teachers and students can thrive. By aligning closely with European Education Area objectives on equity, inclusion and participation, this document aims to support sustainable policy choices that enhance well-being, improve learning outcomes and reinforce social cohesion across European school systems .
